Red Centre
Rural Ladies Day Event
Founded in 2023 by Danyelle Haigh, the Red Centre Rural Ladies Day
is a signature gala event that brings rural people from the Alice Springs region together to honour the achievements, resilience and everyday stories of rural women on the International Day of Rural Women.
Now in its third year, the event continues to grow in popularity, drawing more attendees and community support with each celebration.
Showcasing inspiring guest speakers, top-class Australian entertainment and charismatic MCs, the event is designed to both celebrate and support rural communities—offering a day of connection, learning and shared pride.
Reports from each event can be found here: 2025 2024 2023
The CLMA auspices this event to support initiatives that
strengthen rural capacity, leadership and community resilience.

The Red Centre - Rural Ladies Award was created to recognise, honour, and celebrate the extraordinary women who keep life on the land thriving across the Central Desert region. As the only award of its kind in our region, it shines a well-deserved spotlight on the women whose contributions often go unacknowledged, despite being vital to the survival, strength, and success of rural and remote communities.
This award celebrates women who demonstrate Leadership, Resilience, Commitment, Dedication, Hard work & Strength!
From managing cattle stations, raising families, volunteering, supporting education, handling mustering, running businesses, and holding communities together, rural women do it all. The award exists to recognise their courage, contribution, and heart.
